Somali Internet Piracy

**the below is meant purely as 'artistic jest' and not as any serious material or guide.  this post does not condone internet piracy**

Illegally downloading a file is a lot like finding a parking spot near the park in san francisco.

As a disclaimer, make sure you are good at parking, which in this case means doing smart searches. Try the artist name alone, and common misspellings. If the page has been removed, but the link is still alive, you can find a cached version of the page on google.  Be smart!  Time to park.

Yes, you will find a parking spot, and it will be pretty good.

1)
Start by going to the places you would prefer to park, in case the spot you need is available there.  Try right in front of the damn place:  mediafire, 4shared, and zippyshare all spring to mind instantly.

2)
If that doesn't work, try some nearby streets that have lots of parking spots, or good turnover: Rapidshare, Hotfile, Filesonic, Fileserve, and Oron are great options, and if you are into house music, i would suggest starting with oron, and moving to rapidshare, then filesonic, hotfile and fileserve, in that order.

3)
if you still can't get it, loop back around and try looking for the EP name.  this time hunt for the rar file containing the entire ep.  if your track is the TITLE track of the EP, you might just be screwed.  also, you can look for "[song titile] site:blogspot.com rapidshare.com/files" and you might generate some individual blog posts that dont get much search play in the engines that patrol rapidshare, and other filesharing sites.

4)
if you are really desperate for it, there's two ways to go.  buying it and torrenting.  I suggest buying it.  You will only have to do this one of fifty times or so.  you will maybe support the artist's ego.  that is nice.  and also, torrenting is like doing a horrible, free car sharing program with a group of people you don't know on the internet.  you want to go to the concert two towns over, so you put in a request to go to that city, and when someone in your area is driving that way, you can get in on it.  well, if you are serious about going to the concert, you'll get a bus ticket and go.  it costs 2 bucks.  and you can probably arrange to get there for free with friends anyway.  so fuck it.
